Safeguarding

Saint Joseph's is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and members of the wider school community to share this commitment.

Who to Contact with Concerns

Should you have any concerns relating to the safety and welfare of a child at the school you should immediately contact our designated person(s) for safeguarding:

Mr. G. Needle – Designated Safeguarding Leader (DSL) and Headteacher

Or, if he is unavailable, one of the Deputy DSLs:

Mrs. A. Lyons – SENDCO

Mrs. G. Graham – Pastoral Leader

Mrs. S. Pendleton - Child Care Club Leader

Should you have any concerns in terms of safeguarding relating to the behaviour of a member of staff, you should immediately contact the designated safeguarding leader.

If the allegation concerns the DSL, you should contact Michael Pemberton (Chair of Governors), via school who will arrange for the Chair of Governors to call you as soon as possible.

Operation Encompass
Our school takes part in Operation Encompass, a national initiative that supports children and young people who have been involved in, or affected by, domestic abuse. It means that our Designated Safeguarding Lead is informed by Greater Manchester Police before the start of the next school day if a child has been present at, or affected by, an incident of domestic abuse. This helps us to provide immediate, confidential support for the child and their family in school. We are committed to working closely with families and agencies to ensure every child feels safe, supported and able to thrive.
